How FreeBeg works
FreeBeg is a free place to ask for a little help, and to help someone directly. We never touch the money: every gift goes straight from the giver's payment app to the person asking.
If you need help
- Create a free account and confirm your email.
- Add a way to receive money — Cash App, Venmo, PayPal or another service (see below).
- Post your request. Say what it's for, how much, and when you need it. Small, specific asks get helped fastest.
- Share your link with family, friends, coworkers and your church or community groups. Most help comes from people who already know you.
- Confirm help when it arrives. When someone says they sent you money, check your app and tap “Got it.” Your progress bar only counts confirmed help.
- Post a thank-you. Everyone who helped gets it. You'll need to post one before you can ask again — it's what keeps people giving.
New accounts' first requests are checked by a moderator before they go live, usually within a day. This keeps scammers out, which makes people more willing to give to everyone.
Tips for a request that gets helped
- Ask for one thing with a real number: “$40 for a bus pass,” not “anything helps.”
- Add a photo — the bill (cover your account number), the empty gas tank, your pet.
- If you can work for it, say so. Some people would rather pay you for a small job.
- Post updates. People give again to people who follow through.
If you want to help
- Pick a request — or tap Help a random request.
- Tap one of the person's payment buttons and send what you're comfortable with. $5 makes a real difference.
- Come back and tap “I sent $X, let them know.” You don't need an account. Leave your email if you'd like their thank-you.
- Share the request. A share from you can bring in the rest.
Payment methods FreeBeg supports
You'll need at least one of these to post a request. They're all free to sign up for. Each service sets its own fees and rules, so read their terms — FreeBeg isn't connected to any of them.
Cash App
Download the Cash App, sign up with your phone number or email, and pick a $Cashtag (like $MariaR). That's what you'll add to FreeBeg.
cash.appVenmo
Download Venmo and sign up. Your @username is in your profile. Venmo is for US accounts.
venmo.comPayPal
Create a free PayPal account, then set up your PayPal.me link — a short web address like paypal.me/mariar that anyone can pay.
paypal.com/paypalmeKo-fi
A free donation page that pays out through PayPal or Stripe. Handy if you'd rather not share an app username.
ko-fi.comZelle
Built into many bank apps. It uses your email or phone number, which will be shown on your request — only use it if you're comfortable with that.
zellepay.comOther
Any other payment page with a secure https:// link.
Never post your bank account number, card number, or Social Security number anywhere on FreeBeg — nobody needs them to send you money. More safety tips
What FreeBeg does and doesn't do
- We do confirm email addresses, review new members' first requests, block reused payment handles, and act on reports.
- We don't verify anyone's story, hold money, process payments, or give refunds. Give what you're comfortable giving.
